Your Role:
Every one of our systems is unique – and each unique system still requires a lot of manual electrical design today: terminal diagrams, labeling, bills of materials, test loops.
Much of this is repetitive work in a new guise. PFAFF is investing group-wide in AI as a working method, not as a pilot project. For electrical design, this means moving away from drawing and towards configuration. You are the person who will build this for Dornbirn.
Where we stand today:
- Circuit diagrams largely project-specific
- Component selection based on experience and memory
- Knowledge from old projects exists but is difficult to find
- Requirements specifications and consistency checks are manual
What you will make of it:
- Rule-based project planning via EPLAN EEC and a clean article master
- Reusable macro and function blocks instead of copy-paste
- AI search across old projects: “Where have we solved this before?”
- AI pre-evaluation of specifications, automatic test routines
What you should bring:
Must-haves:
- Specialized training in electrical engineering, mechatronics, or automation technology
- Practical experience in electrical design, ideally with EPLAN P8
- Genuine enthusiasm for AI – demonstrated by something you built or saved yourself
Helpful skills:
- EPLAN EEC, API, or scripting (Python, C#, PowerShell)
- Safety technology (EN ISO 13849, EN 60204-1)
- English for working with our locations in the USA and China
Not required:
- A computer science degree or ten years of professional experience
- Ready-made answers to the AI question – we’ll find them together
- Perfect German or English, if the technical skills are right
Your Responsibilities:
You can expect...
- Real development projects with technical demands and international relevance
- Short communication channels and direct contact with customers, project management, and executive board
- Experienced team that shares knowledge instead of hoarding it – including individual further training
- Attractive salary package and long-term prospects in a steadily growing company
- Flexitime, state-of-the-art machinery and workplaces in a new building
- Canteen and underground parking directly on-site
70% Project Delivery
You plan real systems and take them through commissioning – without this grounding in reality, the rest won’t work.
- Planning of electrical engineering, pneumatics, and safety technology with EPLAN P8
- Specification and selection of components, occasional parameterization
- Support during commissioning in Dornbirn – you’ll see your plans come to life
- Coordination with design, control technology, and assembly
30% System Building
Dedicated, protected time for methods, automation, and AI.
- Development of automated electrical design methods (EEC), macro library, standards
- Automation of repetitive tasks via EPLAN API, script, or AI assistance
- Usable electrical design knowledge base from existing projects
- Piloting AI tools with our AI team – and honest evaluation of what works
